FREE Bus Rides on Apple Country Public Transit 🚌

Bus routes and paratransit services are always free to ride in Henderson County, not just during Strive Not to Drive Week! This is a great week to try them out if you haven’t taken advantage so far. Show up at Jackson Park on Saturday, May 16 to learn more. Details below.

Downtown Dollars Raffle πŸ’²πŸ’²πŸ’²

Pick up a booklet from the Visit Hendersonville downtown office at 201 S Main St to participate. The booklet lists all participating businesses that will stamp it and may offer a discount if you bike, walk, or ride transit to reach them. Return your stamped booklet by May 22 to 201 S Main St to enter the raffle for Downtown Dollars that can be spent at participating businesses in the heart of Hendersonville!


Friday, May 15

Bike to Work Day πŸš²πŸ©β˜•

7:15am-9:30am, Downtown Hendersonville at the corner of N. Main Street & 3rd Ave. E.
Join the City of Hendersonville to celebrate National Bike to Work Day! This day encourages us to bike to work, but it also raises awareness of cyclists as they commute to and from work each day and promotes the bicycle as a healthy and safe alternative for commuting to work. Folks on their morning commute can stop by the booth to enjoy FREE HOT COFFEE & PASTRIES. Information on biking in Hendersonville will also be available.


Saturday, May 16

Walk Audit Trainings πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸšΆβ€βž‘οΈπŸ₯•

9:30am OR 11:30am at the Hendersonville Farmer’s Market (650 Maple St)
Two options for a 30-minute training led by Bike Walk HVL and AARP on assessing walkability based on specific criteria and assigning scores. Walk Audits can be used to gather input about infrastructure needs and to help inspire pedestrian-friendly streets. All participants will EARN A TOKEN to spend at the Farmers Market as a thank you!

Meet the Bus 🚌

10am-2pm at Jackson Park (100 Jackson Park Road, Hendersonville)
Get to know the Apple Country Public Transit bus system by visiting us at Jackson Park! Experience how to load a bike on and off the bus’s bike rack and learn about ACPT’s routes and our Paratransit services.


Wednesday, May 20

Ride of Silence 🚲

Gather at 6:30pm, ride at 7pm. Guidon Brewing Co (415 8th Ave. E, Hendersonville)
This international event promotes sharing the road with cyclists and honors those injured or killed in traffic collisions. Participants are asked to wear white, follow all road rules, and ride silently. A brief meeting to explain the event’s significance and honor loved ones will be held at 6:30 PM before the ride, with a post-ride social at Guidon Brewing. Bike Walk HVL will be leading the event.


Friday, May 22

Social Spin πŸš²πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸšΆβ€βž‘οΈπŸΊ

6pm at Trailside Brewing (873 Lenox Park Dr, Hendersonville)
Join BikeWalkHVL for a 6.2-mile ride or a casual walk, followed by a social after! Route will be available on Ride with GPS.
