Events are listed in two places on this page: Upcoming Events (one-time, happening within the next few months) and below that, Recurring Events (which happen weekly or monthly). Be sure to scroll all the way down to see everything that’s happening!

September
- Bike-In Cinema: Thursday, September 4, 2025. New Belgium Brewing and Asheville on Bikes are partnering host the outdoor bike-in cinema on the lawn, every Thursday in September! Each time, the bike valet will open at 6pm, movie will begin at 7pm, and bike valet ends at 9pm. Film: Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.
- Pisgah Monster Cross Challenge: Saturday, September 6, 2025. Sign-in and Start/Finish will be in the field directly across US276 from Davidson River Campground in Pisgah Forest, NC. The Pisgah Monster-Cross Challenge is the premiere all-road racing event in the region. Participants are challenged to complete a 69.2 mile course with 8,777’of climbing along scenic gravel and paved roads. The riders will be treated to some of the finest gravel roads in the Pisgah and Nantahala National Forests, which is a one-of-a-kind opportunity in the racing world. Monster-Cross is a dream gravel endurance event where keen race tactics and strategy, along with overall fitness, proper gear selection, and sheer luck are key to success.

- Dirt Diggler Gravel Grinder: Saturday, September 13, 2025. Wag Valley Farm, Hendersonville. 47-mile and 27-mile route options. The 11th Annual Dirt Diggler Gravel Grinder hits Henderson and Transylvania Counties this fall. Starting and finishing at Wag Valley Farm (formerly known as REEB Ranch), this gravel bike race will feature a backcountry/gravel road tour through some of the best kept secrets in Western North Carolina. - Assault on the Carolinas: Saturday, September 13, 2025. This ride is the annual fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Pisgah Forest. The ride begins in downtown Brevard. All proceeds will be donated to charity. 100k and 50k route options. Register at the link.
- The Happy Urbanist – An Evening with Jon Jon Wesolowski: Tuesday, September 16, 4pm-6pm at Fitz and the Wolfe. Move Fast and FIX Things: Placemaking Innovation Through Quick and Uncompromising DesignCities everywhere are experimenting with fast, low-cost ideas that transform public spaces—whether it’s pop-up parks, reimagined streets, or creative interventions that cut through red tape. These projects prove that you don’t always need years of planning or massive budgets to spark meaningful change. Jon Jon will highlight real-world examples of how communities are leaning into quick, flexible design—both grassroots and institutional—to make streets safer, downtowns more vibrant, and neighborhoods more human-scaled.This is a chance to connect with others passionate about building a more creative, people-centered Asheville, while gaining inspiration from innovative projects happening across the country. - Transportation Challenges & Opportunities in Our Region: Wednesday, September 17, 8:30am-11am. Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce, Board Room, 2nd Floor, 36 Montford Ave. In the aftermath of Helene, our region’s highways, roads, bridges and public transportation are more important than ever. The transportation system plays a critical role in safety, quality of life, tourism and economic development. Not just rebuilding, but preparing for the future, demands creativity in both planning and funding. Join the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce and NC Go! for a robust discussion on meeting both current and future transportation needs in our region. The event will feature breakfast, presentations from the NC Board of Transportation, NCDOT Division 13 leadership, NC Go! chair Marc Finlayson, and more. Register at the link.

- Tiny Tykes Bike Obstacle Course: Tuesday, September 23, 10am-11:30am. $5/session. For ages 3-5 w/ adult, at the Dr. Wesley Grant Sr. Southside Community Center. Bring your bike and helmet and enjoy a fun morning exploring a pint siz bike course. Ramps, tunnels, twists and curves to practice bike skills with other young riders. A limited number of balance bikes and helmets will be available for riders who need equipment to join the fun. Riders who bring their own bikes can ride with or without pedals. Registration required.

- Asheville Public Transit Forum: Tuesday, September 30, 4:30pm-6pm, at Central United Methodist Church (27 Church St). A roundtable discussion and deep drive on prioritizing Asheville’s transit resources, through the lens of the Choices Report. Open to all! Hosted by Mountain True. Part of the Week Without Driving.
October
- Asheville Recyclery Open House: Thursday, October 2, 4pm-8pm. 271 Haywood Street, Asheville. A part of the Week Without Driving. Drop in and learn about the earn-a-bike program, DIY bike maintenance, and other resources offered by the Recyclery.
- Tour de Fat: New Belgium Brewing on Saturday, October 4. The annual event is a celebration of bicycles, merriment, music, and beer. Proceeds from the Tour de Fat support the mission and work of Asheville on Bikes. The event is free and open to the public. AoB provides bike parking. The event kicks off with a parade through the River Arts District. Check out the route here and start planning.

- Pumpkin Pedaller: Saturday, October 25. A costumed bike ride hosted by Asheville on Bikes. Gather at 2:30pm at Wedge Brewing Downtown (Grove Arcade). Details to come.

Recurring Events
Mondays
- (WEEKLY) Slonuts AVL: every Monday at 8am, meet at Cooperative Coffee, ending at Hole Doughnuts. 10-14 mile no-drop ride, with +/- 1000 feet of elevation gain
- (WEEKLY) Motion Makers Women’s Mountain Bike Ride: meet at the Ledford Parking Lot in Bent Creek at 6pm and ROLL OUT at 6:15pm unless it is posted otherwise in a pre-ride post.
- (MONTHLY): Gravelo & Burial Shifties Social Ride: Join Gravelo every first Monday of the month (July 7, August 4, September 1) at Burial South Slope for a group ride around town, followed by their $10 Shifties Special (burger & fries — veg burgers and non-alcoholic beer available too). This no-drop ride rolls out at 6pm, with a social pace and mixed surfaces. If it rains, we’ll still meet for food. Check Facebook for details.
- (MONTHLY): Strong Towns Asheville meet up. First Monday of every month, 6pm-7:30pm at Hi-Wire Brewing, Biltmore Village (2A Huntsman Pl, Asheville). A community-led effort for wiser land use and safer transportation in Asheville North Carolina! Join their discord.
Tuesdays
- (WEEKLY) Evening Road Rides from Epic Cycles in Hendersonville: Starting April 30th, every Tuesday evening until the end of August, Epic Cycles and BRBC will be hosting two ride options at 5:30pm: Option one will be a fun, social ride for riders looking for a new group to ride with, as well as some support on navigating the roads in Hendersonville. This ride is for new riders, riders with a new bike, or longtime riders looking for a relaxing fun ride in the evenings. The second ride option is for more experienced riders. This ride is a 20.3 mile loop with 1670 ft elevation – ride out Kanuga Lake Rd to Evans Rd and back in Hebron Rd. This ride will not have a designated ride leader, but these roads are likely to be familiar to most of you. And after a few weeks, the route will be familiar to everyone!
- (WEEKLY) Mountain Haulers: every Tuesday at 7pm, meet at the Good Vibes Silo in the River Arts District, roll out at 7:15pm. The first Tuesday of the month is a chill greenway ride. Every other Tuesday through the month gets progressively longer and more hilly. Follow their Instagram for ride details.
- (WEEKLY) Asheville Recyclery open shop hours, 4pm-8pm at 271 Haywood Street, Asheville. A bicycle cooperative where folks can make bike repairs using recycled and new parts. No/low cost/work trade options to fix or earn a bike.
- (EVERY OTHER MONTH) Haywood County Greenways Meeting: 2pm-4pm at the Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center (91 N. Lakeshore Drive, Lake Junaluska). For the rest of 2025, meetings are scheduled September 23 and November 25.
Wednesdays
- (WEEKLY) Motion Makers Womens Mountain Bike Ride: Wednesday morning ride meets at Rice Pinnacle at 10am and will typically leave directly. This is a beginner friendly, social, NO DROP ride. Expect 6-8 miles and we will return to the parking lot no later than noon so you can get on with the rest of your day.
- (WEEKLY): Intermediate Social Mountain Bike Ride: Meet the Asheville Mountain Bike Club every Wednesday at 3:30 pm for a fun and inviting no drop group ride. Tailgate grilling and beverages after every ride. Bring your favorite beverage and a side dish or dessert to pass if you like. Rice Pinnicale lot in Bent Creek.
- (WEEKLY) Gravelo Shop Group Ride: roll out from the Gravelo Workshop on Merrimon at 6:15pm. Routes posted on instagram.
- (MONTHLY) Brevard Bike Alliance Social Ride: the last Wednesday of every month, meet at 6pm at the Railroad Avenue Depot. Check the Facebook page for details.
- (MONTHLY) Connect Buncombe meeting: usually on the 4th Wednesday of every month at 5:30pm, held at the East Asheville Library. Date, time, or location occasionally change, so be sure to check the website for details.
Thursdays
- (WEEKLY) Liberty Beginner Friendly Mountain Bike Group Ride: Join us every Thursday at @6PM. The ride begins at 6:15pm. The trail changes every week. The trail, meetings pot, and start time are posted on Liberty Bicycles Facebook page and Instagram the day of.
- (WEEKLY) Youngblood Shop Ride: Every Thursday evening at 6PM, weather permitting and during Daylight Savings Time. The A and B routes are about 33 and 26 miles respectively through the rolling hills of Leicester / Alexander. The A pace is about 18-19 mph and B about 15-17 mph. Routes are subject to change, check the Facebook page for announcements.

- (MONTHLY): FBRMPO Technical Coordinating Committee (TCC) Meeting: Monthly on the second Thursday, 11am-1pm (NO MEETING IN JULY). The members of the TCC are staff representatives from the 21 local governments, staff from the North Carolina Department of Transportation, and representatives of other local transportation and planning agencies. The TCC does not take final action, but makes recommendations to the French Broad River Metropolitan Planning Organization Board. All meetings are open to the public, and take place at the Land of Sky Regional Council (339 New Leicester Hwy).
- (MONTHLY) French Broad River Metropolitan Planning Organization (FBRMPO) Board Meeting: Monthly on the third Thursday, 1pm-3:30pm (NO MEETING IN JULY) at the Land of Sky Regional Council (339 New Leicester Hwy). The members of the Board are elected officials from each of the 21 local governments, and representatives from the NCDOT Board of Transportation. The Board is responsible for final approval of the Long Range Transportation Plan, the Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program, the Priority Needs List, and the Unified Planning Work Program. The Board also serves as a forum for public input.
- (MONTHLY) Summer Social Rides w/ Bike Walk HVL: every fourth Thursday (June 26, July 24, August 28, September 25). 6pm meet-up at Ecusta Market & Cafe bike racks (trail side). 6:30pm roll out. All riders welcome!
Saturdays
- (WEEKLY) Motion Maker Mountain Bike No Drop Group Ride- Bent Creek: Ledford Branch Trailhead @8am.
- (WEEKLY) Gravelo Bakery Ride B Group: 9:30am at Gravelo Workshop on Merrimon. Fast-paced ride to Marshall, NC.
- (WEEKLY) Asheville Recyclery open shop hours, 1pm-5pm at 271 Haywood Street, Asheville. A bicycle cooperative where folks can make bike repairs using recycled and new parts. No/low cost/work trade options to fix or earn a bike.
- (MONTHLY) Blue Ridge Dirt Skrrts Group Ride & Social: A women’s mountain bike nonprofit. Every second Saturday of the month, we explore the mountain bike trails of Western North Carolina. Post-ride we will meet to continue the fun and companionship at local breweries, bike shops or other event spaces. Check the website for details.

- (WEEKLY) Asheville Bike Polo: 5pm-9pm at the Malvern Hills Park tennis courts. Beginners welcome.
