Emergency Ride Home (ERH) is a benefit to all employees or students of any workplace or campus that is currently enrolled in the Commute Friendly WNC program. It’s a peace of mind contingency to support multimodal commuters, without worrying about the “what if?”
How It Works
You got to work or school by a means other than driving alone – but now you have an emergency, and getting home the way you planned isn’t an option. Don’t worry – just call an Uber or Lyft and get home safely. Then, within two weeks of the ride, request a reimbursement and get a check mailed to you. It’s as simple as that!
Your ride may be to somewhere other than your home address if needed – as long as it either started or ended at your qualifying workplace/campus.
Requirements
- The person requesting a ride must be a current employee or currently enrolled student of a certified Commute Friendly Workplace or Commute Friendly Campus.
- The person requesting a ride must have taken a sustainable commute the day they request the ride. That can include: carpooling, vanpooling, public transit, bicycling, or walking.
- The person requesting a ride must have a qualifying emergency that prevents them from using the multimodal commute they planned on. Those can include:
- Your carpool/vanpool driver had an emergency and left work early. You had to work unscheduled overtime. You or an immediate family member is sick. A crisis happens. Carpool/vanpool vehicle breaks down, or your bicycle has a mechanical issue that makes it unrideable.
- A qualifying emergency does NOT include inclement weather. Plan accordingly.
- The ride must start or end at the participating workplace/campus.
- Rides to/from the airport do not qualify for reimbursement
- Tips for the driver will not be reimbursed.
- Reimbursement requests must be made within two weeks of the date of the ride.
- A person is limited to six ride reimbursements per calendar year, OR $150 in reimbursements, whichever limit is reached first.
How to request a ride reimbursement
Within two weeks of the ride, follow these two steps:
- Fill out the Reimbursement Request Form below, and
- Submit your ride receipt by emailing sandy@landofsky.org. The receipt must be a PDF that shows the date of the ride as well as your origin and destination.
Go Mountain will verify your employment or student enrollment and then mail a check to your home address for the reimbursement amount.
